Desert Light Tech ("we," "us," or "our") provides computer repair, IT support, and security services in Ridgecrest, CA and nearby areas. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you submit the contact form or request a consultation, we collect the details you provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, and the message or service details you share.
- Client portal account information. If your business uses the client portal, we process your name, work email, company, portal role, account status, sign-in timestamps, and authentication and security-audit events. Passwords are stored only as one-way password hashes, not as readable passwords.
- Client portal service information. We process the information you or your organization place in the portal, including support requests and ticket updates, emergency-incident and callback details, approval decisions, member-management actions, notification state, and dashboard preferences. Depending on your services, the portal may also display account contacts, covered devices, reports, documents, recommendations, billing summaries, and security or service-status information supplied by your organization or our service systems.
- Technical information. Our hosting and security systems may record standard request details such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access to operate and protect the site. We do not currently run client-side website analytics.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide quotes.
- To confirm and deliver the services you request.
- To authenticate portal users, enforce account permissions, route and track support work, and maintain security and audit records.
- To improve our website, services, and customer experience.
Third-party services
We rely on a few trusted providers to run this site. Each processes data only as needed and under its own privacy policy:
- Website hosting — serves the site and maintains standard request and security logs.
- Web3Forms — delivers contact-form submissions to our inbox.
- Email delivery and helpdesk systems — route, notify our team about, and manage contact-form and client-portal support requests. Portal requests are sent through our email provider into our helpdesk after the portal record is saved.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used by this website.
Cookies & analytics
We do not currently use advertising cookies or client-side analytics. The client portal uses an essential session cookie when you sign in, and local browser storage records recent portal activity and when an inactive portal has been locked. This site also stores your Home or Business display preference in your browser. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate the site and deliver the requested services, with authorized people at your organization according to portal roles, or when required by law.
Data retention
We keep contact and portal service records for as long as needed to respond, provide and document our services, maintain account security, resolve disputes, and meet contractual, legal, or recordkeeping obligations. We generally retain authentication event logs for about 180 days; cleanup runs periodically and may occur later during extended low-activity periods. Session records expire under the portal's idle and absolute timeouts. Other retention periods depend on the service record and customer agreement; information is deleted or anonymized when it is no longer needed, where permitted.
Your choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you've shared with us. Some service, security-audit, contractual, or legally required records may need to be retained. Email hello@desertlighttech.com or contact your organization's portal owner.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted connections, one-way password hashing, role-based portal permissions, logging, and other technical and administrative safeguards designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Do not send passwords or other secrets through contact or support-request fields.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above.
